The Build Up

After two years of planning, the ‘Ryder Cup’ has finally arrived.  A team of 12 are heading out to Kiawah Island to take on team USA in their own backyard.

Some of us are old enough to remember Bernhard Langer’s missed putt to lose his match and the cup to the Americans in the infamous ‘War on the Shore’.  Hopefully this will be a friendlier competition but just as exciting.

Our planning has been interrupted, unfortunately, with one of our members sustaining a neck injury.  Hamish Wallace had to drop out, much to his anguish, and in stepped able deputy, John Burgess.  Mr Burgess warmed up for the forthcoming match with a hold in one at Craigielaw on Saturday 19th April on the 10th hole.  All the team have been kitted out with IJP design wear, so ‘fashion will take a bashin’!

The flight leaves tomorrow, Friday 25th April, and the next update will be after a practice round on Sunday.
